We’ve introduced a metric indicating how safe travellers feel when using our services during the COVID-19 pandemic. After every ride, we ask each traveller to leave a review.

  • 20 minute gap between transfers

Following each ride, our drivers have at least 20 minutes to thoroughly clean the surfaces of the car and ventilate the cabin.

  • Regular Car Sanitisation

Our drivers thoroughly sanitise and disinfect cars according to Welcome Safety Protocol

  • Contactless ride

When you book, you can request to have zero contact with the driver during the transfer with just one click. In this case, the driver won’t help you with your luggage or shake hands.

  • Sanitiser in every car

We provide hand sanitisers and hand wipes for all our travellers. Our drivers have their own sanitiser, which they use before and after every ride

Rhodes Taxis

Rhodes is the largest of the Greek Dodecanese islands, so getting around it by foot or public transport can be a little tricky. If you’d like to make the most of your relaxing vacation or see as many sites as you can in a small amount of time, taking a Rhodes taxi is a great option. There are both set and taximeter fairs on the island, depending on where you choose to take a taxi from. You can either grab a taxi on the street, call for one or walk to an official taxi rank.

Base fare – €1.30

Rate per km – €0.65

The cost of a Rhodes taxi

Unlike most other Greek islands, taxis in Rhodes use both set-fares and a taximeter to calculate the cost of your journey, but the fares are regulated throughout the island. If you choose to take a taxi from a taxi rank, you will pay a set rate depending on where you are travelling in Rhodes. There will always be a board with all the current rates on it, so you can be sure of what you will pay before entering the taxi. Some examples are; from Rhodes town to the port €6, to Springs of Kalithea €15, to Lardos €67 and finally to Ialysos €14. If you hail a taxi from the street, you will be charged using a taximeter based on distance.

Base fare – €1.30

Minimum charge – €3.72

Price per km day (5:00 to 24:00) – €0.65

Price per km night (24:00 to 5:00) – €1.30

There are also extra charges for things such as and baggage over 10kg (€0.43), one hour of waiting (€11.90), surcharge for being picked up from the port (€1.20) and a surcharge for being picked up from the airport (€2.85).

How to get a Rhodes taxi

Getting a taxi in Rhodes is very easy, so you can get from point a to point b quickly and without fuss. You can hail a taxi from the street, walk to a nearby rank or call the local Taxi Centre. If you choose to hail a taxi from the street, all you need to do is make sure the cab is empty and simply wave your arm at the driver.

If you’d prefer to walk to a taxi rank, these can be found all over the city. The central taxi station is in the Mantraki area in the centre of the city. Smaller Rhodes taxi ranks can be found at the Grand Hotel, Saint Francis Church, Kolona Port, Therme Park, Saint Nicholas Square, Rodini Park at the Thalassini gate of Old Town and outside the Analipsi Church.

If the weather is bad and you’d like to wait inside for your Rhodes taxi, you can always call the Central Taxi Station on +30 22410 69800 if you’re calling from inside Rhodes Town and +30 22410 69600 if you’re outside the centre. Bear in mind that there will be an extra fee for using this service.

  2. Most taxi drivers don't keep change for any bill larger than €20, so be sure to keep change with you when taking a taxi.
  3. If you hail a Rhodes taxi from the street, make sure that your driver resets the meter before you begin your journey.
  4. Rhodes taxis can’t take more than 4 passengers by law.
  5. Standard taxis don't come with a baby seat, but you can bring your own free of charge.
  6. If you feel your driver is taking the incorrect route, you can check on GoogleMaps.

Wheelchair Accessible Taxis in Rhodes

Standard taxis in Rhodes don’t offer wheelchair ramps or full wheelchair accessibility. There’s plenty of space to fold and store your wheelchair, free of charge, but you won’t be able to stay in your chair for the journey. However, there are a couple of specialist taxi companies on the island that offer wheelchair accessible vehicles with ramps and access lifts, Rhodes Go Transfers and Wheelchair Accessible Holiday Taxis.

Safety and Complaints for Rhodes taxis

As the taxis in Rhodes are well regulated and monitored, taking a cab on the island is safe. However, if you do encounter any problems during your journey, such as your driver being rude, overcharging you or simply taking the incorrect route, be sure to report it to the transport police. To make a statement you will need your taxi receipt, the date of your journey (and time if you can remember it), the taxi number and your driver’s ID number.
