Net Safety Score

We’ve introduced a metric indicating how safe travellers feel when using our services during the COVID-19 pandemic. After every ride, we ask each traveller to leave a review.

  • 20 minute gap between transfers

Following each ride, our drivers have at least 20 minutes to thoroughly clean the surfaces of the car and ventilate the cabin.

  • Regular Car Sanitisation

Our drivers thoroughly sanitise and disinfect cars according to Welcome Safety Protocol

  • Contactless ride

When you book, you can request to have zero contact with the driver during the transfer with just one click. In this case, the driver won’t help you with your luggage or shake hands.

  • Sanitiser in every car

We provide hand sanitisers and hand wipes for all our travellers. Our drivers have their own sanitiser, which they use before and after every ride

How to get a Taxi in Brisbane

Getting a taxi in Brisbane is easy as there are taxi ranks placed around the city, at major hubs, such as the train station, metro station, big hotels and at prime tourist areas. Moreover, if you prefer to pre-book your Brisbane taxi, two main taxi companies operate around the city; ‘Yellow Cabs’ and ‘Black and White’ cabs; to book a taxi in advance, you can either call one of the companies or book a vehicle via their website. Keep in mind that by choosing this option, you will be subjected to a booking fee of €0.90 ($1.50 AUD). Lastly, the universal way to get a taxi is by hailing a passing vehicle directly from the streets, by holding your hand up in the air.

Nevertheless, if you prefer travelling at a fixed rate fare with a local driver at no extra costs, you can always pre-book your Brisbane transfer with Welcome Pickups, and avoid any hidden fees. In this case, your Brisbane transfer driver will be waiting for you at the exact location you indicated during the booking process.

Book your Brisbane Taxi Transfer in Advance

Arriving in Brisbane and having to find your way around can be overwhelming, especially if you are new to the city. Knowing that your taxi is waiting for you at a set time, in a set location, and at a fixed price, with no hidden fees is comforting. Going further, looking for a taxi rank within the city, or having to wait in line for a cab whilst wasting precious holiday time is frustrating.

That is why it is highly recommended to book a Brisbane private transfer in advance. Not only will you be avoiding surcharges, high fees, and long waits, you will have a friendly and highly trained driver waiting for you at the location of your choice if you book your Brisbane transfer with Welcome Pickups.

Brisbane Taxi Tips

  1. Please note that any taxis leaving Brisbane airport will have to pay an airport surcharge of €2.50 ($3.50 AUD). This will be added onto your final taxi fare.
  2. Brisbane taxi drivers do not expect a tip for their services, although it is common courtesy to let the taxi driver “keep the change”.
  3. As mentioned previously, Brisbane taxi fares are metered; it is important that your taxi driver resets their taximeter and that it is turned on before starting your journey.
  4. Longer taxi trips in Brisbane can get quite costly if charged on the taximeter. Subsequently, it may be more cost-savvy to book a private taxi online at a set fee rate.
  5. Brisbane taxis accept cash payments and bank card payments.

Wheelchair Accessible Taxis in Brisbane

Wheelchair accessible taxis are available across Queensland and many regional centres. These are maxi taxis that can carry one mobility scooter (provided it can be secured in the vehicle) or two wheelchairs.

You can either directly contact a wheelchair accessible taxi company and book your transfer, or you can go to any taxi rank and request a maxi taxi. Please note that the maxi taxi fee is not charged if the taxi ride involves a person using a wheelchair or mobility scooter.

Brisbane Taxi Safety and Complaints

If unfortunately, you have encountered a bad experience during your taxi ride, you can ask your driver for a receipt in order to get their taxi number and contact the service provider (taxi company).

However, if your complaint relates to a serious issue or an issue that has not been resolved by contacting the service provider, you can send a complaint to the Queensland government, either via email at ‘personalised.transport@tmr.qld.gov.au’ or by calling 13 12 30.
