Directions for your transfer from Izmir airport
Izmir airport, also known as Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB), serves the city of Izmir and the surrounding province. Serving around 12.8 million passengers each year, Izmir airport is the 5th busiest airport in Turkey. The airport is located around 17 km from the city centre, so a transfer in an Izmir airport taxi shouldn’t take more than 36 minutes.
After exiting the airport compound, your driver will head south on Adnan Menderes Havaalanı Girişi for a few meters. At the roundabout, they will take the third exit onto Adnan Menderes Havaalanı Çıkışı. Then, at the upcoming fork, your driver will keep right and follow signs for Gaziemir/Çevre Yolu/İzmir (Konak) and merge onto Akçay Cd./D550. You will then continue on Akçay Cd./D550 for around 15 to 20 minutes, before exiting onto Basmane/Şehir Merkezi. From here, you will merge onto Mürselpaşa Blv., before entering 9 Eylül Meydanı in the centre of Izmir.

The local drivers at Izmir airport don’t offer a set-rate fare for the journey into the city centre, nor do they use a taximeter. All prices given are decided by the driver and are usually somewhat negotiable. Having said this, the average cost for an Izmir airport taxi to the city centre is €4 (43 TRY). It’s also worth noting that there’s a €0.30 (3 TRY) surcharge added to your bill for being picked up from the airport.
